LEARNING BLOG: MONDAY

I hope this is OK I couldn't make it that long because all we did today was lit circle discussions...

WHAT DID WE DO?
Today, despite the fact that we had a T.O.C., we did our lit circle discussions with our books and dialectical journals that we had to prepare for today. We had some difficulty sorting out the groups, but after that we worked really well on our discussions!

WHY DID WE DO IT?
We did our lit circle discussions because we need to practice connecting/asking questions to a text references of sorts. We also did this to practice and enhance our collaborating skills in a group, and asking questions that provoke discussion (deep thinking questions).

REFLECTIONS/CONNECTIONS
I think what we did today in humanities is important because connecting, asking deep questions, and collaborating in a group may come in handy down the road especially when applying for a job. If you can't collaborate well in a group, that narrows the job choices down to the ones that don't require group collaboration, so you have less to choose from.

 HOMEWORK REMINDERS
-If you haven't already done so, finish up your innovation fair proposals, your self evaluation for your lit circles, two group goals and etc., and a brief summary of what your group discussed today (all for tomorrow).
-Don't forget, our last lit circle discussion is next week so prepare your dialectical journals for Monday.

HOMEWORK TIPS
-Choosing a topic for innovation week can be hard... I you're still unsure about what to do, check out this video for help... remember no ideas are original!

What did we do?
Today, we discussed about our package booklet. For example, extra help for people who didnt understand parts of the booklet.

Why?
We talked about this because many people did not understand and needed help with the booklet. Me personally needed help because I actually did not understand it I was way off topic.

Connections and Reflections
Doing our paragraph outlines can help us organize our own paragraphs and learn what a bad and good paragraph looks like. Using the tips and suggestions our teacher gave us can come in handy for future projects that require us to think outside the box. It also helps us understand th main topic more, referring to the story.

Homework reminders
For December 9th Innovation Week Proposal's due. Also dialectical journal for next Monday

Homework tips
You can call or ask an study buddy. Or also go to the blog, or email Ms.Lees

Learning blog for dec.4/14 Thursday

What did we do?
Today, we discussed about our innovation fair ideas and we went through our paragraph package. We also handed in our self assessments as well.

Why?
We talked about our innovation fair ideas because many of us were having trouble thinking of creative innovation fair projects. Our teacher gave us tips and suggestions on how to come up with a great idea for our project. We also learned how to outline paragraphs which can also help us organize our own paragraphs and help us in our writing. On top of that, our teacher discussed with us why we do self assessments and how it will help us in our daily lives.

Connections and Reflections
Doing our paragraph outlines can help us organize our own paragraphs and learn what a bad and good paragraph looks like. Using the tips and suggestions our teacher gave us can come in handy for future projects that require us to think outside the box. And doing self assessments can help us in the future by learning how to reflect on the things we did well and the things we could improve on at our jobs.

Homework reminders
For tomorrow, Decemeber. 5/14 Friday, dont forget to finish the paragraph outlines and to highlight transition words and phrases. Inovation fair proposals are due Decemeber. 9/14 Tuesday and don't forget to do your dialectical journals for next Monday.

Homework tips

What We Did In Class Today

Today in class, we talked about literature circles and asked clarifying questions to make sure every knew what to do with dialectical journals then we discussed when and who was going to post on the blog. We communicated so everyone has days they are comfortable so if someone had soccer, they would tell the whole group that they couldn't post that day because they had soccer. Last of all we had to fill a  "Teacher and/or Self Assessment". We are doing this so we can see what we are good at and what we need work on.

I chose this quote because...

I chose this quote because it tells us to keep a balance in our life just like riding a bicycle, by moving foward. Without continuing to move foward, you would lose your balance, and would fall off the bike. In life, we want to focus to achieve our main goal, but we need proportions to help us get there. We cannot get too out of hand, or else we will lose our progress to complete our main goal in life. For example, some people want to grow up and become a scientist. For that goal to be achieved, we need steps to follow, to keep on track, and to not lose our balance, just like the quote says to us.

I chose this because it is very inspirational to me personally. This quote by Walt Disney shows that the things he did, and the this he created really do show how much he loved his work. I really do love this quote because, I can actually relate. For example, if you don't take risks or choices, you will never know where it will lead you. As my Grade 6 teacher used to say, "You will never know what you can achieve until you try". Keep going, and never give up.

To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong

I chose this picture because it tells us not to be afraid of making mistakes while we are being creative in life. When we are being creative, there shouldn’t be a limit or any rules because part of being creative is letting your mind flow the direction it wants to take you. In life, we are always going to be wrong. The feeling of being wrong is uncomfortable and unpleasant which is why many of us are very cautious and we think too hard on something very simple. That blocks our ability to think outside the box. Life is full of interesting things, but we may never experience any of them if we are always feared of being wrong, and that will trap us in the box of being uncreative and simply the same. I hope this quote will help you loose your fear of being wrong, and live a more creative life.
